** Fish -- Songs from the Mirror

Purely an exercise to complete his Polydor contract, Songs from the Mirror is Fish's tribute to the bands that he listened to while growing up. Aside from the historical interest, there's not much to this album that would encourage anyone but completists to pick it up. The songs aren't a whole lot different from the originals and aside from "Fearless" and "Five Years", most of them aren't high on my list of favorite tracks anyway. However, I would absolutely recommend picking up a copy of Sushi, which contains a lot of these songs in far superior live versions. One track of note is "I Know What I Like", the Genesis classic...does Fish do a credible Peter Gabriel, something he's been dogged with for twenty years? Not really -- there's some similarity, but this demonstrates that to claim he's a clone is a bit of a stretch.
